Well I got my Dsl activated yesterday. Was only 5 working days so well done Telkom.
Must say I’m very impress browsing is faster than it was on iBurst even when not capped. Gaming is excellent with the 27ms pings :D
Sofar im very happy, now I just need to make sure everything goes according to plan with regards to my iBurst cancelation.

27ms - which game/server?
 
That’s on saix local battlefield2. But I’m on international because I can’t get my traffic split yet with vista. Still waiting for a solution for that. I have a 384 line but it’s about 354 so I’m happy :D
 
you must have been getting a crappy iburst connection for a 384k line to be faster. welcome to the side of the defectors.

The reality is iBurst 1 Mbps = 250 Kbps – I connect to the Gardens tower and although the iBurst speed test indicates 1 Mbps a Telkom 384 Kbps line is much faster, nevermind the fact that it is stable…
 
Even if your iBurst downloads faster than 384, which it should, browsing will always seem faster on ADSL. 384kb is enough to pull down most pages, so it's up to the response times, stability and good international connection.
 
Not to promote ADSL or Telkom, but heck, it sure is a lot better than other offerings. I can't speak for iBurst or Sentech, but 3G/HSDPA/EDGE/etc is really horrible for use as a primary connection.

Well I can "speak for iburst", I and many others had great hopes that it would be the "new force" in SA as far as the internet goes, but alas the company running it is a totally useless bunch who seem to be bent on destroying a perfectly good alternative to ADSL, so yes ADSL is far better and at the alarming rate iburst's reputation is failing it would not surprise me if it goes belly up in the near future.

Nope faster, I don't often get downloads going slower than 40kb even on international. Yet browsing will still seem a lot slower. Even loading a image heavy site will be going faster than 384kb most of the time, but it still feels slower.

I almost never break 40K/s on my iburst, only early mornings (4am) do I get fast download (80K/s). Find it averages to about 20K/s for me when I can watch the speed

NOOOOOO...Dont make me jelous! SA doesnt want me to have a decent internet connection :(
