regarding this whole adjustment of matric results story, my maid's daughter who failed Science most of the year, ended up with a B - seriously not possible, gotta love this country - even our education system has become a worthless piece of *****

True - but in fairness the 'R' and 'T' keys are next to one another. I suppose that the education department could claim that the 'G' or 'H' keys are next to the 'B' key.

ok , u want the truth - im prepping for an exam, trying to multitask, as men we are not the greatest.
Prepping and posting to MyBB at pretty much the same time, oh and yes R and T are close to each other.

Goodie - derailment opp - this multi-tasking thing is a myth. Ask your GF/SO/some random female to sing the national anthem or recite The Lord's Prayer while driving around a traffic circle (Hint: Don't be in the car at the same time).

haha... sorry... couldn't resist.

But yes... you are right. I am highly suspicious of these "results"

Anybody can see they were jiggered.

Its not the fact that they were "jiggered" , from a fail to a B is my worry, if they shifted it up 1 grade or whatever it is referred to now, then fine , but a B in Science is pretty damn good, especially for a "failure".

Yep... "jiggered" means they were pretty much screwed.

You can't tell me that with all the crap that went on last year... the 6 weeks off for world cup soccer... the weeks of strike... that the students miraculously knuckled down and passed with flying colours. Sorry, I don't buy it.

BEE- Black education empowerment...

No it's all good...will be payback time at the university/Tech/College or what ever tertiary institution our young "future" will be going to.

Well thats exactly it, they are shifting the failures from schools to varsity, next step , adjust varsity results.
Just imagine what this will do for the reputation of our varsities, as most of them are ranked according to international standards.

Oh the naivety... Going on what's happened recently, they'll just burn down the school that fails them. Easy peasy.

I can definitely see a future here in SA where most jobs will have to be contract work so that companies can at least get rid of this scum once they've entered the workforce. Currently it's getting more and more difficult to drop dead weight once they've been hired.
Well, either that, or in the near future this place is just going to fall flat on its face.

It next to impossible.

I can see it more and more at the office ... Big companies are getting hit hard ...

We had a guy at my previous company, respectable place, one of the biggest and most respected data warehousing companies in the Southern Hemisphere actually.
Anyway, so this...err... "African" dude messes up consistently (I'm talking missing work days because of weekend jailtime served for drug dealing etc.. You know, those "little things"). After warning #3 the guy gets his disciplinary hearing, dude comes in pissed out of his mind. Long story short, he agrees willingly to leave the company, two weeks later he changes his mind... The company still had no legal right to get rid of him. I still don't understand that, or rather, I don't want to.

I'm starting to think that people (like me) who think education is still our main problem and solution have got their heads up their asses, we're way beyond just education issues.

When the matric results were announced a few days ago there was this strange silence surrounding it, the results were announced everywhere, but people just didn't want to comment or speculate too much, I think the middle class is just getting too gatvol to really care anymore. It's like our complaints have started to become a strange form of entertainment rather than anything we're truly taking serious. I think everyone knows these results were all BS. The problem is no-one can prove it right now, and to hope for a Wikileaks type leak on SA is pointless. The rot and stupidity has penetrated the upper echelons so deep you can forget about cases of moral inner struggle leading to leaks.
