what happens when the licencing dept runs out of alphabets with GP plates , they are already at "T". are they going to swich over to 4 alphabets and 4 numbers?

after consulatation with a focus group, they will add more letters to the alphabet

They don't have to...

TRG 435 GP

they start using Numbers first...

111 TRG GP...

that gives them double the capacity.

Actually, they can use any combination now... virtually limitless..

could be 1T2R3G GP

Mixed letters and numbers

i doubt that this will be the case, that means (for instance) a number plate ABC123 GP will have a duplicate plate 123ABC GP which can create havoc with traffic fines...

they've been using X.. ... GP for a while now.... so they gonna run out a lot sooner than you may think since they skipped vowels as first letter also.

ZA seems to be aligning itself to China (if "The Despots' Democracy"
By Michael Gerson can be trusted), so maybe we will abandon the roman numerals completely ...

It was in the news end of last year. Will post the article asap.

They said it will start with AAA0001GP
Or if they don't use the vowels, it's going to be CBB0001GP

But I remembered it's going to be 4 numbers!!

Um, we abandoned roman numerals some time ago, otherwise we'd have license plates like HFV CCXXIV GP. :D

I think you mean arabic numerals.
