GPRS connectin with Wavecom modem

I am trying to connect to VC GPRS but keep getting the "NO CARRIER" error, I have also tried several dial strings ie “ATD*99#” or “ATD*99***16#” (both given by Vodacom) or “AT+CGDATA=1” it gives exactly the same error output as below:

I have also tried an MTN SIM and no difference... any ideas?

It would seem as if that output is perfect... what it needed was an IP stack to follow...

Excerpt from support mail:

"What you are seeing is the PPP trace without an IP stack which is correct, if you run the modem using windows dial up networking the modem will connect because it is using windows IP stack."
