Ok, I got an N95 a few weeks ago and was using the end of my Cell C contract on it - worked fine, including debranding and upgrading to FW 12.

Now, today I got my new Vodacom simcard - calls and SMS's are working, but for the life of me I can't get data working. I can't go back to my Cell C sim (it's cancelled) so I guess there's a small possibility the phone failed at a similar time to changing contracts, but my gut feel is that it's a Simcard / network problem. Does anyone have any advice?

I've tried setting the GPRS settings manually and automatically from both Nokia and Vodacom to no avail, and I also can't create an account on vodacom4me.co.za ... getting pretty frustrated that I can't play with HSDPA yet!

Cheers,
Artagra

Check with 155 if the SIM is enabled for data.

Make sure you have the correct APN settings on your phone after the FW upgrade, however usually the Vodacom simcard carries all the settings required.

What does the phone say when attempting to connect? It will usually tell you to subscribe to the service if you don't have it activated on the card. If the access point/settings are incorrect it will give other errors of not being able to connect, no gateway replies etc.

thanks for the help guys!

It just started working again - I think it activates the voice first before data. I was really confused for a while because I knew the settings where correct and I knew the sim was data enabled - but I'm glad it's working now :D

Wow - this HSDPA is quick - much better than 512k ADSL via Wifi, and comparable with 4mbp via wifi.
