GPS on phones accuracy

Hey everyone.

I have noticed a lot of attention to gps on phones. I have the nokia 6110 navigator and use the gps everyday. My only gripe is the accuracy. 8m on a good day, 16 on a bad day.

What accuracy are other people getting on their phones?

I use Nokia N73 with Garmin X10 bluetooth receiver and get 5m or so on average. Nuro - are you a geocacher? If not, join up, its the best sport on earth imo www.geocaching.com

I havent measured the accuracy, how would you do this (and get a reading of 8m or 16m as you have done)?

From using mine it seems spot on

How do you know you out by 3 meters?
 
On my 6110, I can get GPS accuracy by going to Menu > Applications > GPS data (I cant find accuracy in Route66 or Garmin Mobile XT).

Somebody enlighten me on Geocaching?
 
Since WAAS isn't implemented in this country and the US deliberately make it inaccurate you are lucky to get a few meters out.
 
I think the quality of the gps on the 6110 is only about avarage. My garmin standalone and 6110 next to each other differ in accuracy of about 4-8 meters :-(
 
I suppose if you were in a car you might be in the ditch on the side of the road instead of in the lane (?).

I'm asking about best case scenarios. Driving around in some areas gives me accuracy of 20m. Not good for navigation. I have had cases where I stay on route, but then it recalculates since it thinks I'm off target.

I'm not sure if gps accuracy affects speed measurement. This will also throw off all my trip meters. It's kinda nice to be able to do trip measurements, as it seems my car odometer differs somewhat from the gps.
