GPS on phones accuracy

well if you do want a accurate GPS, you rather get a LD-4W, my friend Michael reviewed it few days ago at Symbian-Freak

The Difference between the LD-4W and the internal GPS on my Nokia N95 (where i mainly tested) are 2 important Things: Speed and Precision!
I can see how he tested Speed of aquisition and startup but how do you measure precision. Sounds like a thumb-suck to me.

A GPS will always give you it's accuracy. Which is the same as precision, and quite empirical.

So how can you compare two consumer receivers for precision. I wouldn't be surprised if they had exactly the same chipset.
 
How do you know you out by 3 meters?

It comes down to the fact that the GPS receiver determines it's position by 'triangulation'. The GPS calculates the distance from all the 'Sat's' and where these distances cross the lines form a triangle. The GPS is somewhere in the 'middle' of this triangle. For normal use, such as driving, the 5 meters will normally take you no further than the other side of the road.

Exactly, a cocked hat. But the size of the hat varies.
