I am getting some strange artifacts on my Sapphire HD7950 lately.

The pc used to boot into windows, after 2 hours or so, the pc freezes and makes a strange sound.

I then try to reboot and I have all these colours/artifacts on the screen.

I removed my card and plugged the hdmi cable into my motherboard and everything seems fine.

Put the graphics card back in and the colours/artifacts start to display again. It doesn't even boot into Windows, it goes straight to the bios.

Yup,that's a dying Graphics card.

Baking works, but it just prolongs the inevitable.
Also with every bake, the duration of it working properly becomes shorter.

strange sound would generally be a power supply related issue.. if the sound you hear is a high pitched whine or squeal I would look into the power supply as well.. maybe that it is just passed its age in providing sufficient power to the graphics card..

The sound does not come from the PC case but from the speakers of the Home Theatre system that it is connected to.

It's an 850w PSU.

okay, that makes the sound completely irrelevant to the issue and only leaves a dying gfx card.. the way you phrased it made it sound like it comes from the PC..

Sorry I typed the whole thing on Tapatalk so my text is a bit crappy.

Artifacts can mean your capacitors are dying. Check the card for swelled/boiled out caps. Happened to an old Radeon card I had, replaced the caps and got some useful life out of it (just keep in mind hobby grade caps are not meant for such high frequency so expect about 6 months)

Ok OP what did you do
I just took it out and it's laying on the couch. I bought a 1080ti and should hopefully get it by mid Feb.

I just didn't expect my card to go out that way. Thought it was immortal.

Ja today my gpu (old af) also proved it is not immortal. Yesterday get my first bsod in like win 7 existence, today pc kept on crashing. So I suspect either one of the two hottie fans died and lo and behold gpu fan kaput. So now I'm running on onboard gfx till I can source a fan.

Nice upgrade!

I'm busy waiting for my 2600k to die...

I have the same issue on my R9 280x, think it had enough of my **** now

All seriousness, GPU's have a fairly limited lifespan, it's probably time for me to replace my GPU.

Tested it on my brothers PC, the GPU is f'cked.
Time to move on.

Can't get a damn 1080ti in this country thanks to all the miners.
Will wait for the 2080ti probably but need something in the meantime.
