GPU market update

Need to build a complete R15k budget gaming rig and no gpu's around.

To top it off, it has to be new (i.e. no secondhand / Carbonite).

Sad panda is sad

I am pretty much with you there, I decided to build myself a system to use at home. I was torn between getting a new 1070, or a cheap new 1080 (those galax ones for R7999 on Wootware), and seeing what Vega has to offer, so I decided to wait - and POOF, everything disappeared. Fortunately for me it's not a necessity.

On the bright side, I don't blow 20k, which is nice :D

If Vega comes and it's a dud, or if there are still stock issues later in the year, then it looks like my gaming laptop is in it for the long haul.

Some retailers now have Radeon RX 570 and RX 560 4GB cards, but they are not going to last long. Less than 100 units in the country.

AND there's a price increase. RX 570 4GB selling for the same price as the RX 580 4GB used to sit at.

You will literally get R 5000 for it easily, its a eff-up for buyers (gamers), but the 'mining' eff-boiis are making a killing.

I bought a 1070, my wife hasn't been talking to me since yesterday when i told her.

I don't have it in my hands though, still waiting for Wootware. They allowed me to preorder so that's an indication they're expecting stock

Goodluck

Who are these retailers?

My wife thought this was a joke, then I started showing her the earnings. Now her sister want's to mine lol

I got 2 x 570's from a small shop today :-)

They got 8 in stock this morning, I phoned and ordered 2, guy after me took the rest (he was trying to get them to sell my 2 to him aswell)

Also the prices are now R5k for a card :-/

There are 6x new 1060s for sale in the classifieds if they haven't already gone.

There are some 4gb 1050ti cards available at Takealot @ R2799.

Why not just pre-order the newer mining specific cards?

Sapphire provides four versions of the RX 470 Mining Edition since they differentiate between those with Samsung GDDR5. Models using these Samsung ICs cost ÂŁ10 more than the SKHynix version, whether it is the 8GB or 4GB variant. The Samsung version is projected to generate 25 to 28MH/s, while the SKHynix version generates between 24 to 27MH/s. Obviously, the clock speeds are adjustable so more performance is possible.

RX 560 4GB—£170
4GB RX 470 —£249
Samsung 4GB RX 470 —£260
8GBRX 470 —£290
Samsung 8GB RX 470 —£300

There isn't enough of a saving to be had here to make them worthwhile, which is the main issue. Plus, Polaris 20 is a better option than Polaris 10, and it's a bit more stable as well.

Plus no resale value to gamers.

I can probably get my hands on new 1060/1080/1050ti.
