GPU - Old vs. New Price Discussions

Guys seem to be stuck on how much graphics cards used to cost new.

It’s like telling me that petrol today is too much compared to a decade ago.

Noo we are talking about when a second hand card cost about the same as a new card with similar performance

The fact that I could probably sell my 3 year old cards for more then I bought them for.

Yeah, If I bought petrol a decade ago and kept it and it somehow stayed good, I could sell it for more than I paid for today.

But I see what the guys are referring to, new card vs old with same performance. The 1080 cards are just power hungry.

A 3 year old card should not cost more then it did new.
Also good luck using that ten year old petrol.

Why? Have you seen the prices of cards lately?

Although cards seem to be priced based on thei mining capability, not gaming performance.

I got my Vega 56 in 2019 for R3500, same card goes for 9k-10k easily now.

Hmm ... I actually had to check ... this is the hardware bargains thread and not gpu thread

Just looked at my wootware invoice from Jan 2017 - rx480 4gb cost R7.5K  - that is to say if you asked me I would’ve said it cost a lot less than that

Edit: That was for 2 of them :X3:

Depreciation!

What addon are you using to get that price graph?
I am actually working on my own chrome extension and is currently busy adding more SA stores.

It is not publicly available yet but if anyone wants to try it out they can get it here:

I would appreciate any feedback or recommendations on stores to add
