Hi All

So have finally reached the point where some games are getting beyond my existing GPU (which is 4.5 years old).

Current System Specs are as follows:

Intel Core i5-3570K @3.4 GHz

8GB DDR3-1600

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.25GB RAM

Am only looking to run at 1080p so anything that can give decent frame rates at this resolution would be the way forward.

Looking at these two at the moment...

I like the reviews of the 1070 but R7.5K seems excessive, the R4.7K of the 1060 seems a lot more palatable and more appropriate to Full HD @ 1080.

I will admit to being more partial to Nvidia but if someone can recommend a better price/performance point them will be willing to move across.

Any advice, recommendations would be appreciated.

GTX 1060 6GB (I've just got one a month ago) can pretty much run anything, and yes, as you mentioned, a lot cheaper than the 1070.

Thanks all, was pretty much sold on the 1060 as performance/price it but it's always good to get second opinions.

Even the 1060 3GB is fine for 1080o.

but get the 6GB.

Just get the Zotac GeForce GTX 1060 AMP 6GB. At 1080p you can throw anything at it.

Ordered the Zotac GeForce GTX 1060 AMP 6GB, thanks guys!

Card arrived today, excellent service - Wootware are fully deserving of their praise on MyBB.

I don't buy anywhere else anymore when it come to IT related things.

I bought a mouse and an HD cable last week. Just because. Could have easily bought it from a corner shop.

Indeed, I will probably do the same from here on out.

+ 1 cannot Praise Wootware enough

Report Back: Surprised that the a card 4 generations later than my existing one was only 3/4 of the length. Anyway, slight delay on testing as a freeze on the bios at bootup. Seems to be a known issue with some Gigabyte Mobos and a Bios update sorted that out.

End result, as promised by all - everything runs silky smooth with settings on max - very impressive. The most unexpected result was how quiet the card is, have been used to having the sound of multiple fans spinning up under any kind load with the 570 GTX, the new 1060 seems to handle everything with scarcely a sound.

Thanks to all for pushing me over the edge, very happy with the card.
