Telkom's ESR is hop 5 in this traceroute, which suggests that's quite a bit of networking that's outside of Telkom and Axxess' control even before reaching the ADSL network.

If I were Telkom or Axxess, I'd ask for a traceroute from a PC that's directly connected to the ADSL router before investigating any further.

Problems in G town aside, I'm kinda curious why rpm posted this. Given that he is not in Gtown.

Anyway...gtown students are returning soon, so I think the issue will fix itself soon enough. And if it doesn't sort itself out in a week or 3 then PM me & i'll see if I can create a bit more uhm awareness.

I'm in Gtown on 046 622 XXX and 1meg IS uncapped, and I haven't had any problems recently. Maybe it is MTN-related.

HavocXphere: Rhodes students are already back, since term started on Monday.

Inclined to agree, my GTown VPN running over TI has been fine for over a week now, pings are back to normal and packet loss has disappeared.

Students have their own 10GBps fiber line! Rest of us are on copper.

RPM posted cause I posted this on another thread as comment so he created new thread.

Upload Speed: 750 kbps (93.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Not had any issues since a major packet loss problem was fixed around 16th July.

Try run a pathping to google.com - it may pick up if there are any packet loss issues.
