Grand Theft Auto 6

Biggest 30-60fps mess was hands down Dark Souls.

You could literally not climb ladders and your weapons would break after killing 3 enemies because the degradation system was tied to fps.

I don't think it was really rough? It was a locked 60, the 30 quality mode gets you more detail which is why they opted to play it. Personally, if I had the option I would stick to 60 for an action focused game even with the quality hit - but some games like FF16 I did play on 30fps for a bit.

Nah it was bad. Shimmering all over. Fixed in 1.16

So what were the original image quality complaints surrounding the 60fps performance mode at launch? In short, this mode gave an aliased, shimmery look to many objects, while even the higher fidelity 30fps mode exhibited a different kind of noticeable shimmering within foliage. Patch 1.07 included 'tweaks to vegetation to improve image quality in performance mode' but it only had a minimal impact on final image quality and any remained unhappy with the result.

Thankfully, Guerrilla's second bite at the cherry in the form of patch 1.16 has produced much better results. Looking at moss and vegetation that demonstrated distracting shimmer in the launch version, the issue seems to have been completely fixed. The image is stable and clean in motion, with virtually all shimmering vanquished. It's a similar situation if you look at the problematic red mist, with obvious visual aberrations in the launch code and a much more coherent appearance in 1.16

When Horizon Forbidden West launched, we recommended playing with the 30fps quality mode - because the 60fps mode's 3200x1800 checkerboard solution didn't quite work.

They were allowed to stream it as long as it wasn't just a stream but a commentary. Both Rockstar and twitch put out tweets making this clear.
The one I saw, the "commentary" was just an occassional "that looks cool", or "wow" etc. He was mostly quiet lol. Don't know who it was.

Just hope they don't neglect the single player game again like they did with V. I have no interest in Online at all.

I think even today you still have to use mods and manually edit files just to get the dlc vehicles to show up in normal story mode traffic in V. Editing these files takes a long time but it's worth it to see every dlc car everywhere on the map. Still have the files I created for myself somewhere but I haven't updated them in ages with recently released vehicles.

And additional stories in V would have been great. Like GTAIV's EFLC.

It's 30fps cause they spending all your resources rendering crazy hair tech

Hair looks insanely good. Back in the day hair like that would have destroyed your pc. Still remember how my pc struggled with the hair quality set to max in Tomb Raider.

I think even realistic hair on men's arms (and legs?) although I haven't looked at the gameplay footage that closely yet.

I can't comment on the streamer you watched. Some will always try and run the edge close.

I watched it on missmikkaa's channel. Was definitely more then just a few words here and there.

I'm more optimistic. PC version coming in May/June :p
Knowing Rockstar, they'll maybe hide an Easter egg in the game. Like having something like “09/09/27” sitting innocently on a computer monitor or calendar in the game months before officially announcing the PC version :D

30 FPS tells me nothing about what GPU or RAM or CPU it will need,

First hint
However, the CPU demands of a world this complex - tuned around console Zen 2 cores at 30fps - could make hitting 60fps genuinely challenging in a way we don't often see, and will likely require a high-end CPU like a recent Ryzen X3D to avoid bottlenecks.

30 FPS is about as useful as a 3d mark score
That's why I said - Its a console release.

We know what specs consoles have.

When its on Steam in 1-2 years, then you'll know what the PC specs is.

Until then, if you are playing on console, the point is moot.

And if you plan to play on PC then you wait. Like you did for every other PC game in existence.
