Graphic card

what about cards with crossfire instead of sli. What are the best one's?

Which is better in your opinion Sli or crossfire and why

have you guys heard about the upcoming card HD6990. what do you know about it?

I'd suggest that you get at least a decent 600W PSU for the HD 6990, but that card is so not worth it due to its price tag.

do you think i should get 2xHD6850 and use crossfire or by getting 1xHD6950

if i get 2xHD6850 will i need to get a more powerful psu

For e.g. if i have a 500w psu and if i get 2xHD6850 will i need to get a more powerful psu?

Depends on what else is in your system and if the 500W PSU you have is really 500W. A 520W seasonic will drive two 6950's easily. I have a 400W psu and a 6950 and an I5-750 with two HDDs and a CDROM working perfectly.

I'm not completely convinced about that a 520W Seasonic can drive 2x HD 6950's, unless you have a Sandy Bridge CPU and you're not overclocking your CPU or graphics cards.

Like I have an i7 940 + 2x GTX 460 1GB cards and my PC draw 540VA from the wall (with 90% eff PSU) when I OC my CPU to 3.95GHz and the cards to 878MHz. My GTX 460's are rated at 160W TDP, where as the 6950's are rated at 200W TDP.

The i5 7xx series & Sandy Bridge CPU's do consume less power though.

6950 is rated at 127W TDP AFAIK...

But I agree on the not overclocking part... What PSU do you have that is 90% eff?

Edit: I was thinking of a 6850, whoops

HD6950 modded to a HD6970 would be the best.
Though if you want Nvidia then the GTX570 is a decent card.

i have a 500w psu. I am running an i7 950, msi x58 pro motherboard, 3xpci express 16x 4gb ddr3 1333 ram, 2tb hard drive.

Hehe ja. It's quite a big difference between the 6850 & 6950.
A 520W Seasonic could EASILY run 2x 6850's + Socket 1366 CPU - all of which can be overclocked with a good margin too.

Here are all the TDP values for the 6xxx series cards: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compar...g_units#Northern_Islands_.28HD_6xxx.29_series

What 500W brand & model PSU do you have?

You can increase your performance slightly by using a triple channel memory configuration ;)

nVidia if you play alot of games with Physx. ATI for best value for money.
