You can run 2x512MB memory modules with 2x1GB in the other two slots, as long as they match. i.e: If your 512's are 800Mhz DDRII CL5 then the 1Gb's need to be the same. Know for a fact this setup does work, reports at 3Gb's in window and no bottlenecks.
