graphics card advice

If you cant afford it, then go for a 7600GT, both will be excellent gaming cards especialy compared to what you are used to with that PC. A Colorful 7600GT is only R1699, is just over R300 more worth it for Asus? it will not show much performance gain, and the bundled software is usually just discarded and pretty old by the time you get it. Same for the games if there are any.

You thinking of PowerColor I assume?

Anyway, Biostar has a 7600GT for R1700 with the same specs as the Asus, so yeah, that might be a good option...

No, im thinking of Colorful, its a newish brand from China. i'm running on atm, I know about Power color too though.

Biostart might be a better option though, they have some good stuff at the botom range atm, their boards are really nice and priced greatly too.

Firstly, does the guy NEED a new graphics card.

If you dont NEED a new one and the only reason for replacing is because of the fan, just get another fan.

Wel replacing the fan he wont be able to do himself obviously, and at the cost of getting some overpriced techie in and buyng the fan he might as well upgrade to a much better card. Those fujitsi semens rubbish "bundle" type PC's never have godo cards, its probably a waste of time to replace the card, and a7600GT really is a great card, it will provide amazing performance compared to whatever he had.

This Is What Under Display

Display:
Video Adapter RADEON X600 Series Secondary (256 MB)
Video Adapter RADEON X600 Series (256 MB)
3D Accelerator ATI Radeon X600 (RV380)
Monitor Fujitsu Siemens ScaleoView T17-1 [17" LCD] (YEED167893)

the computer tchie says these fans cannot be replaced once they are doomed gotta replace the card thats why i need to know which is a good card to buy around that price range... ithink it would be cheaper to replace the card than get a computer techie to replace the fan

well, just sounds to me like even a 7600GT would be over the top.

@rexter, what type of stuff do you do on your PC? Do you play games?

Wow, I was actualyl a bit worng, that is a MUCH better card than I expect of a fujitsi PC with those specs. Did you ask for a good graphics card or something? :p

Well if it already has that and you arent much into gaming then rather just try to get the fan replaced. The card obviosuly sil works right, as you can turn on your PC im assuming.
If you want something ebtter, then a 7600GT will be a good upgrade. It wont really be overkill upgrading from this.

thanks Ekhaatvensters

guess ill give that card a try, well i can still use my pc at the moment but you know the fans get rowdy at times thats why the computer techie suggested i replace the card than the fan...

but ill take your guys advice and try the 7600 ...

thanks again guys

well in that case go to pczone, in sanlam centre in pinetown...they are having a birthday sale till the 2nd october. so you have to go there tomorrow to get these specials. they selling a legend 7600gt for R1299, and a chaintech 7600gt extreme for R1599.

if you get the sunday tribune, look in the sunday magazine, and on the second last page is PC zones advert.

oh damn, thats too far, I would have offered to come put a new fan/heatsink on that thing for the cost of it (R200) and the petrol if it was Joburg or PTA.

i suppose he should get the chaintech then....
