It looks like this:

Can one fix it just by buying a new capacitor of the same voltage and soldering it on? On the capacitor it says FZ83 1000 6.3v

Get replacement low ESR 1000 micro-Farad 6.3V. In any electronic shop. Dimensions are important, can be different. The best choices now are Samxon, Nichicon, and Suncon[Sanyo], but any brand low ESR capacitor will be probably better than Sacon FZ series (the blown one).
Edit: Stop using card now, till replacing cap.

Is it a surface mount cap or does it have leads coming through the board? You can replace both, but SMD is harder than leaded.

Can you post a photo of the other side of the board where the capacitor is located please?

Personally I think you should be able to replace that Cap easily with a nice fine point Soldering Iron.

That looks like a leaded cap, which can be replaced easily. If you've got access to a fine tip soldering iron, preferably a 3-5mm chisel tip, then you can heat the leads until the solder melts and see if you can pull the cap free. Don't use one of those beasts from Midas.

AND DUST YOUR POOR MACHINE OUT. :)

Makes me think that I probably have to remove the 6month old dust bunnies out of my machine too.

Just cleaned out enough cat fur to reupholster the cat from mine. Mostly from the front panel filters, but still enough around everywhere else to trip my thermal monitor alarms when summer got here.

Looks like dust combined with vaporised human sweet. :)
