My screen will just go blank, but the PC is still working? As in I can hear the movie/game I was busy watching/playing, and the only way I can rectify this is to restart the system.

Could it be the CPU?

OK let me give my specs as it could be a PSU issue?

470W Gigabyte
Q6600 2.4Ghz
64GB + 320GB
4GB RAM
8800GT
2 DVD Drives

I'm sure 470W can handle all this though? (I replaced a 500W Generic with the 470W Gigabyte)

weird .... could be a codec issue. See what happens when you update/install K-Lite Codec pack or if that don't work, try a different driver. Only then start looking at it perhaps being a hardware issue.

Happens at random.... And its games that do this, browsing, just normal stuff, its random and sporadic

Could be that your card is overheating? run GPU-Z and set it to log to file and update while in background. and see what your temps are..

what operating system are you using? if windows 7.. you may need a new graphics card as the 8 series nvidia cards have a problem working with windows 7

Windows 7. What problem is this? Can you provide a link?

GPU is 91 C .. But playing Neverwinter Night's 2 (hardly GPU intensive)
I'm a noob at this, are these temps too high?

in my game/movie it would just cut dead and could do nothing but restart the system, there is no real explanation to why it does that with the nvidia 8 series cards but mine was fixed easily with a new graphics card.

Your temps are a little on the high side, try getting another fan on your system and clean the fan on the gpu with a compressed air fan. might just do the trick

... As i said MOST... There are many factors to consider. ...

91 for the gpu is not good

Firstly i would say check your power management settings, since some sort of "sleep after ... minutes" option may be enabled, there are options that can turn off all peripheral devices when power management activates.
If there's nothing there i would say uninstall your graphics drivers and any drivers that are tied in with your graphics card, get the new drivers and install.
If that doesn't work i would look at unmounting and re-mounting your graphics card physically, maybe cleaning the slot as well. if your mother board has 2 pci-e slots i would change to the other slot, also checking bios for any options relating to your GPU.
If your case is really dusty i would clean it out since your card is reaching nearly 100 degrees which is really hot! you must check your ventilation in your chassis, since I've got 2 HD4850 and they never go over 60 degrees under load.
Finally if nothing works i would suggest saving up for a new card, since newer cards produce Less heat, or have better heat management.

OK, just checked. Fan makes an annoying noise. GPU-Z has my temps climbing from 0-120C, 0-120C over and over again.
