after my lighnting strike i replaced my mb with an Asus P7P55 LX.
After about 7 minutes my display switches off ... I noticed the graphics card was very hot and the fan not working ... i presume it switches off for protection.
I have an nvidia geforce gts250.

I see the fan can clip off... anyone know where i can walk in and source a spare ?
If the fan is driven from the card will I need to replace the card ?

Thx in advance

You could try to get something like this http://www.deepcool-us.com/Product/V6000/, best is to go to your local pc shop, maybe even matrix warehouse if there is one near you.

You can also try to add a case Fan to suck air away from the heatsink, with some sort of mod to guide the airflow from the heatsink.

I've had good success with stripping off / unscrewing the old fan... and just leaving the heatsink there. Then you buy a 20 cm fan from the computer shop and cable tie it to the Graphics card as a replacement fan. It's cheap and nasty... but it works... in fact in most cases the card runs a LOT cooler.

With some solder and some maths, you can make it look even better than before. It will take you a good hour or so, but well worth it.
