Graphics card puchase help

Depending on the amount of work awaiting me tomorrow I might get around to updating the FAQ with the necessary information. But the answer for most of your questions in the OP is "Higher/more is best" :D

Quick answer regarding bus width: It usually refers to the width of the bus between the GPU core and video memory, similar to the bus between the CPU and RAM on a motherboard.

This is the rating that is always in bits?

So, the bigger the better then :)

I've been thinking about this last night - and I feel strongly that if you have been blessed with dual 26" monitors you owe it to yourself and to humanity to at least attempt gaming with them together. For this reason I insist that you go with at least a 5770 bare minimum.

Hehe, I see :)

And a third monitor according to those pics? ;)

How do much do you think my 4850 ICEQ is worth?

/me thinks I might want to sell it

you can get brand new 4850s for R1000 at the moment...

I'd say R700?

Just as a bit of headsup with the Eyefinity stuff

1.Driver version 8.66 (Catalyst 9.10) or above is required to support ATI Eyefinity technology and to enable a third display you require one panel with a DisplayPort connector.
2.ATI Eyefinity technology works with games that support non-standard aspect ratios which is required for panning across three displays.

What is a reference card?

A card brought out with the OEM cooling and speeds. The ICEQ has a proprietary heatsink and if this is the OC version some tweaks as well which adds value. The standard 4850 cooler runs quite hot.

Not for a while now actually.

So a reference is card is 'better' than a normal one? :o

A "normal" card is usually based on the reference design, basically the only difference is the sticker that is used on the HSF (and of course the included bundle).

Most cards that use different cooling (such as my XFX HD4850 XXX) can be considered "better" than the reference design in that they have, for example, better thermals or higher clocks (due to having lower temperatures and/or speed binning).
