Graphics card question

Hope everyone is well today ?

Anyway a question from a not so tech savvy forumite, a colleague's graphics card packed up.

It used to slot into the brown slot on attached photo (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/album.php?albumid=1233&attachmentid=10209)

do the newer cards slot into the white slots ?

Regards

shew thats an old motherboard... time to upgrade! :)

the brown is AGP (old dedicated gfx slot) and the white is PCI (older than AGP, used for many device types).

most gfx devices these days use PCI-express (dedicated gfx slot). You will be able to find an old AGP card if you look around

:)

since the card is stuffed anyway try reseating it in the oven (do a google).

so i pop the card in the oven, on aluminium balls and bake it for 10 minutes at 200 - 280 degrees..... might as well give it a try :D

Now IF that doesnt work, what card should he get ? and from where ?

Thanks peeps

There are still a few new AGP cards floating around. Otherwise try second-hand. If he just needs a display then any will do.

LOL, just let it cool down slowly afterward.
