Graphics Card suggestion

Afaik wootware.co.za had some 460's going for a bit cheaper than that. Check them out...

it will keep well until fermi an tegra chipsets mature to under R3000.
 
The GTX460 is a better buy than the GTX465, since an overclocked GTX460 would outperform a GTX465.

Prophecy Shop is also quite cheap when you take in consideration that they ship for free when the order is over R1500, but only if you're like within 50km from a major city.
Like I'm in Stellenbosch and they've shipped all my stuff for free.

If your budget excludes what you'll get for selling the GTS250, then you can go for a Radeon HD5850.
 
Been doing some heavy research myself in regards to an upgrade with the same budget. I'm getting the gigabyte gtx 460 1gig through a mate that deals with rectron for R2300, look at the benches with that card...its awesome! NAG gave it 9/10. Think the rrp is R2800. It out performs the HD5850 with AA set to the higher numbers. But yeah......my suggestion is the gigabyte. Its the better 460.
 
K...let me rephrase. Out performs in SOME benches. But the R700 price difference is what sold me. If they were both the same price I would get the 5850.
 
Also you might want to check the power consumption of each card, as I understand it the better NVIDIA cards require more power than their AMD/ATI counterparts.

Hehe, was just about to hit you on this. :p As an ATI fan I need to defend my cards. The 460 is definitely a better choice vs the 5850 largely due to the price difference between the two. If the difference was a bit less, say about R300, I would also have gone for the 5850.

I think they have the GIGABYTE nVidia GeForce GTX460 OC Edition - 1024MB GDDR5 [GV-N460OC-1GI] at R2569.45 ... depending on where you are in SA, it might even include free delivery.
 
Spynx, if you've purchaced an Inno3D GTX460 768MB, could you tell me your fan speed & more or less how loud it is?

I have 2 different Inno3D GTX460 models and the newer one is extremely noisy since its fan is running at ~2850rpm, where as the old one is running at 1600rpm and is very quiet of course.
