Hi,

I resently scored a deal of note on a new Asus Striker Extreme II and a QX6850. I currently have a XFX 9600GT 512mb.

My question is: Should I get another one, its a brand new Sparkle 9600GT (R1000) or upgrade to something like a 9800GTX+ or something a little higher?

Thanks in advance,
Eddie

Far as I know the Sparkle goes for around R1600 & the XFX for R1700,

I would sell the 9600 GT and pay the difference for an ATI 4870, thats if you really want to upgrade

If your strapped for cash just buy another one, if not do as nishalin says. if it is only 1k then yea buy it.

If you sell both you would not get 2k so buying the 4870 you would need another 2k or so to add in. Performance should be very good with 2 x 9600gt.

Yeah, if strapped for cash, just get another 9600gt. If not, get the 4870. Goes for 3100-3300 these days.

4850 might also be an option.

Thanks for the replies. I would go for an ATI, enjoy seeing them back to the top. Just that I landed an Asus Striker Extreme, 3-Way SLI motherboard, so kinda keen on using the SLI, even if its not the 3-way. (maybe when I get my bonus LOL)

Will check out the 4870!

wait, have you guys seen the Nvidia gts 250?? i saw that the 512mb version will be about $130, so expect if for R1800-R2000 and it performs the same as a 9800gtx+ :D

I saw it, but with I see $130 I multiply by 20 nowadays :( wonder if it will support 3-way...Only thing 3-way is good for it seems is paying triple for 10-20% extra performance.

The 250 IS a re-badged 9800gtx..

with 1 6 pin power connector, much lower power requirements, slightly slower(it about 98% the speed of a 9800gtx+) and is on a smaller pcb (9"). So it's not really re-badged ;). ha ha ha, oh and the fact that they getting great yields with this card so it will cost $130 which beats the hd4850 or chills with it, while the 1gig beats the 9800gtx+ and hd4850 hands down :) :)
