Anything that can support the 460 can support the 7790.

smoking the 'haven't kept up to speed with hardware since I built my current rig back in 2010' stuff......

so I am just out of touch with what has happened with hardware in the past few years.

If i was you i would buy a second and use the 460 as a dedicated Physx card.

Ps: The 7790 is only slightly better than your 460

Not worth the upgrade, I on the other hand would by a 660TI Superclocked.

What about if you sold the 460 to add in some cash? You could get say R7-800 for it.

Right, so just consider if you can manage that. 460 to 7790 will be a negligible improvement. 460 to 7850 will give you some chops. Go on carbonite or gumtree to advertise and you'll get it sold off pretty quickly.

I'm actually thinking that with my budget maybe I should save up a bit more and do a proper upgrade. The only reason I wanted to upgrade right now was Crysis 3 requiring 1GB ram, but I can wait.

I agree, to be honest, I think you're wasting your time and money if you don't go for at least the HD 7870.

Sell your old card, put with your R1500 and you're very close to it's price.

I tend to follow the advice of this list, if it's not at least three tiers higher than it might not be worth it.
