Hi Everyone

Im hoping somebody can lead me in the right direction here. Its been many years (I think about 4 or 5) since ive last purchased a graphics card. I am currently running a GeForce GTX 460 which I paid +- R2000 for back in the day. What graphics card can I look at replacing it with for +- the same value. Im not finicky about graphics and am happy to play with low quality, however I can't stand a low frame rate with everything stuttering. Thanks in advance.

Whats your budget?

Also have you tried to overclock your 460? I had a 460 too, boosted the hell out of it and then when that wasnt enough for 2015 games I got a 970.

Same Value, aka +- R2000

If not picky about graphics quality and you want playable 1080p performance, a 950 would be enough (about R1 000.00 less than the 960). You would have to turn down some quality settings to get high average frame rate.

Wootware has a 950 for R2800.00

New AMD and NVidia cards getting released soon.

This. I used to pay R1800 - R2000 for a lower mid-range graphics card many years ago. I expect that the equivalent will now cost in the region of 3k.

You seem to have forgotten that the Rand has taken a dive over the years, in 2011 the Rand traded at about R7 to the US$, today it's more than double that and you are not going to get anything decent for R2k today.

Closest thing to your budget is a gtx 750ti or r7 360 but neither are decent upgrades from what you have. Look at a gtx 950 as the minimum or wait for the new cards to come out soon.

Edit:
Here's a decent gtx 950 for R2.8k http://www.wootware.co.za/galax-95n...5-128bit-pci-e-3-0-desktop-graphics-card.html

Next step up would be,
http://www.wootware.co.za/galax-96n...it-pci-express-3-0-desktop-graphics-card.html

Noted and appreciated, I was hoping the GFX cards of today for +- R2000 would have outperformed my 460 GTX from 4-5 years ago, since new tech is usually considered better then old. However it seems ile have to look for cards in the +- R3000 range for something to beat my 460 GTX, sigh :(

GTX Gaming usually does trade ins so if you are in CT you can probably work a deal with them.
