told you so . you could get a kick ass geforce card and use is for CAD , and in the process you've gone and saved yourself a small car

If it is your intention to soft-mod just be very careful/specific about the exact model of the card you buy. Looks like you want a 8800 with a 384bit bus, G80 chipset with as much ram as possible. Something like a 8800 Ultra. I think the 8800GTS uses the G92 chipset which is not used in the Quadros. Either way, do your homework before buying.

Lol! At my school we're using AutoCAD 2010 and the pcs are being powered by frikken Radeon X600 cards and everything runs smooth.

AutoCAD, revit and Inventor runs 100%

there are 2 versions of the 8800GTS, one is the G92 and the other the G80. The G92 comes with 512MB RAM while the other comes with 320MB and 640MB. All 8800GTs are G92
