Another one I know...

Currently have the Asus GTX 295. The lasy three years with this thing have been amazing.
Now that BF3 is here she struggles a little bit haha.

So should I upgrade now or wait till the new 600 series cards come out?
Id look at a 6990 or a 590.

Not sure whether or not to wait though...

What you think?

The GTX295 is still a very decent card.
One thing it lacks though is DX11. That probably is not that important yet.
Do you run BF3 at max quality settings? Also what cpu do you use?

Running an i7.
Plenty ram, plenty power. Just the card is lagging behind.
That's why I would like to know what others would do in my situation.

The HD7000 has a end of release date January but only the HD7950 and the HD7970 is initially priced thus far. US $449/549
So we dont know how long until a HD7990.
So personally i would upgrade now to either a HD6990 or 590. Not much in it between the two.

Been toying with which one to go for if I do decide to upgrade.

ATI or Nvidia.
Never owned an ATI card before...

AMD* ATI brand no longer exists AMD bought ATI, also fanboyism is over rated, what ever has the better performance/cost value normally is AMD though. :)

Esquire has powercolor 6990s for r5k.

Edit killa got there first.

Or 6970 for r2800 ex.

PostmanPot: what resolution & detail settings are you using in BF3 and roughly what is your framerate?

I'm getting like 60fps on 1920x1200 on medium settings (no AA/AF) with my 2x GTX460, because they don't seem to handle 2560x1600 in BF3 :(

Hmmm. Im getting 60 to 65 in intense situations. so maybe not worth the upgrade :/ Running on high.

Esquire has them for 4999 ex vat  5.6k inc

Power colour, if you are a fanboy and you want asus then just to put in another 2k for the name asus

I would however avoid a dual setup as i am finding bf 3 has issues with it or amd just suck with their drivers as usual.

Thanks killa.
Maybe the 590 is the way to go. Ag i dunno now.

Will check but I would think it's on ultra with low AA. Come to think of it I might not have even ever fiddled with the graphics settings, because it already looks so good. Not sure about frame rate either, how do I check again?
