I applied for my ADSL line on Tuesday last week and by Friday I was up and running at home with the self install option.

I guess that i'm one of the lucky ones.:D

Good news. I am hearing more of these stories...I think things may be improving (not good enough yet...just improving :D)

Its really gr8 getting positive feedback about Telkom...so often people moan and groan, but when something good happens, they keep it to themselves.

My line was also installed in less then a week, and I was thinking...good on you telkom, I am a satisfied customer.

But oh no, till that line went down completely, no dial tone whatsover. I spend an hour on that accursed 0800 number without speaking to a single individual (and had to phone froma cell phoned as the phone line was dead, so am expecting a huge bill to come my way at the end of the month).

This started at 5pm on a thursday. The first time I could get through to an agent, was 7:55 the friday morning.

When asking the manager, if someone at telkomw as going to refund me for my cellphone bill because no one picked up, I got a reply that no one will refund me, because I could have gone to a pay phone and logged the call from there.

When I asked him, why a call centre number that only roughly serves about 100 000 subscribers were busy 100% of the time while the normal call centre that servers millions of POTS systems almost answered the immediately, he could not answer.

Finally a great technician showed up and fixed the line, so I am happy ith telkom again, well not the stupid ignorant call centre

I got ADSL self install in 3 days, Great service from Telkom

I also applied for self-install ADSL a few months back. My ADSL line was up and running within 24 hours. I was in shock the whole week

Mine took 10 working days on selfinstall , not too bad...but thats because I cornered a Telkom techie while he was on th job in the neighborhood and threatened hhim Soprano style if he didn't activate my line ASAP....;)

I was worried at first cos there was no adsl light on the modem so i called the call center and spoke to a tech for 1h20min from my cell:eek: but he was great and everything was sorted out.:D

My mate also applied 2 weeks ago, only to be called 3 days later by a Telkom techie, enquiring why they weren't using ADSL yet? Confused, my pal tried to explain that the indication was 4-6 weeks from date of application. It seems that the line was all ready and set up, so he joined WebAfrica and was off-and-away in under 2 weeks after he applied to Telkom.

Not too shabby.
