Green beans !

You will note that every so often, I pick a different vegetable and then ask you good people for alternative ideas on how to prepare it. I get stuck in a kitchen rut too quickly.

Today: green beans. What is your favourite way of preparing it?

I tried searching for it and half the results are blunomore asking for advice. :p

Just start one and make the purpose clear in the first post - that all 'what can I make with X' and 'I have X, Y and Z; what should I cook' queries go in there :P

Obvious way.

Chop em, boil em, mash em, add cream and black pepper..eat em.

Other way.

Woolies beans, ends chopped off, fried in lemon juice, black pepper and butter (if you want).

Fun way.

Buy a few other beans, and either make a soup, or three bean salad with vinegar and black pepper..om nom nom.

Me too .. very handy if someone can tell you what to do with all those random ingredients in the cupboard.

Boiled with potatoes and onion, mashed together and salt and pepper added to taste = <3

This was my mother's standard recipe all through my childhood so I am not too keen on it!

My mom makes some of the best food imaginable (although I expect everyone says that about their moms). I love it when she cooks. She is the only person I've known to have ever made that combo in some utterly irresistible manner. No idea how she does it. I try and it's sort of "okay." She does it and it's like a lifetime's happiness in every bite.

I'm a sucker for green beans though :D
 
Like my mother makes it..with onions and potatoes... but I like it that way but I do not make it like that.. seems not to taste the same when I try it.
 
Beans, onions, potato mashed...the secret is loads of black pepper and a dollop of butter
