Green IT

More and more companies are seeing the need to be green, but is it just a cost-cutting exercise or has big business really grown a heart?

Doesn't matter. In the end the companies will save money with green technology while cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions. It's really a win-win situation.

Movies such as "An inconvenient truth" have planted the seeds of the ‘green' concept.

After watching the "green" episode of 30 Rock, I too have jumped on the "save the planet" bandwagon. Now I switch off my monitor when I download over night.

Anyway, this whole initiative needs more full-time, public support. Al Gore is the only guy without an agenda actually trying to do something. Quite frankly, he looks like an idiot.

Well done to these companies. We all have to start somewhere.

Soon as I saw this - I stopped reading. That movie was GARBAGE and has had tons of its "FACTS" disproven time and time again. Why on Earth would anyone mention it. All that movie did for me was make me angry when I realized how much BS and one sides "Science by Popular Opinion" really goes on. For that I am glad.

LOL, "An inconvienient truth" has been debunked so many times. That whole movie is a joke... I laugh my ass off every time someone make reference to it, with the mental thoughts off "that guy is such a dumbass for absorbing all the BS the movie spews out".

Man made global warming = A joke. It is a con to get some extra money out of the public by making new laws & regulations.

The earth core & surface temperature is way less than that of 2000 years ago. I don't see them driving around with Toyota Prius or pay carbon taxes for operating chariots. LOL.

Even if it's a joke and a con, the incentive is there to go green. Sure, there might be a slight increase over the short term (CFL, solar panels, more fuel efficient car [note that I didn't say hybrid]) but in the end going green saves you money. Hell, you'll do everyone a favour since Eskom isn't really renowned for their world-class electricity grid.

So what if everything "An Inconvenient Truth" says is not 100% factual. It got people thinking and debating the issue.
