Cape Town badly needs some small lakes. We should allow albion spring to become a lake
Er, i dunno...There are fields there now AFAIK so i presume it got filled in...
If you think about it, it makes sense- what is called the Foreshore nowadays really was on the shore of the sea not too long ago- it is now in the middle of the CBD!

hj2k_x : In Albion Spring Close. Near the newlands rugby ground / Genadendal. It was used to produce Schweppes. I think it just feeds into the municipal water supply now

Albion spring? Where is that?
Our families property used to draw water directly from the Albion Spring by means of a Windmill up the road from Schweppes.

There's a lake in greenpoint?
Underground perhaps?

The ground may be reclaimed marsh land where the Gold Club is now.
Don't know the full history of the area.
Take into account it is only a few meters above sea level on the one side and has Lion's Head on the other side. Water must surely push from the Mountain downwards in that direction, be it on the surface or underground, like a underground spring, perhaps like Albion?

What may of interest is an old Title Deed I saw this year for property at Green Point dating back to the 1850's. I think much of the land was Glebe Land owned by the Church. +Robert of Cape Town.
