Ros, check out O'ways in Claremont. The owner and staff are really friendly, they really know their teas, have a wide variety and will tell you how to prepare it. I don't generally like tea, but I bought some flavoured green tea from there that I quite like.

EDIT: Link to site: http://www.oways.co.za/. I see the tea section on the site also has an overview of some/all(?) of the teas they have and a description of each.

Thanks, I'll definitely check them out when I'm in the area :)

Do you guys drink it and if so, what brand?

Also supposed to have brilliant medicinal qualities.

I drink a fair amount - about 4 cups a day - although it tastes like crap, it is strangely addictive - maybe the caffeine it contains.

I fully expect someone to post on here that it is a scam - like with my goji berry post :D

Blah.... Cant stand it.. Coffee for me, but camomolle tea at night

i didn't know caffeine was physically addictive.
i thought it was merely mental addiction due to tolerance. interesting.
Probably the most insidious aspect of caffeine is that it can interfere with deep sleep, so you wake up tired and in need of a stimulant to get going. Not necessarily serious as long as one is aware of it. But as with most things caffeine isn't really bad for you, might even be good, when used in moderation.

I tasted it once, and can't stand the stuff. Oddly enough, I had some yerba mate (sp?) from Mate de Sol, I think it's called. Also thought it was disgusting at first, now I quite like it. Another strangely addictive one.

I think I remember reading that it's supposed to be better than green tea. No idea if it is.

I don't drink more than one cup per day of the stuff, ever.

Does anyone know where I can buy this tea in Johannesburg(close to Sandton)? The loose leaf...tastes very good.

If it tastes very good then it's not the real deal :)

I think it was the real deal. It was flavoured, but still slightly bitter. Same with this green tea I had at some Chinese restaurant a few weeks ago...couldn't stop drinking it. This was of course met with a lot of trips to the loo.
