I tasted it once, and can't stand the stuff. Oddly enough, I had some yerba mate (sp?) from Mate de Sol, I think it's called. Also thought it was disgusting at first, now I quite like it. Another strangely addictive one.

I think I remember reading that it's supposed to be better than green tea. No idea if it is.

I don't drink more than one cup per day of the stuff, ever.

Try what they call Gunpowder Green Tea - so named for the shape of the rolled up leaves - almost the size of mouse poops-.
You can get it at Peackocks tea shops.
I have a few different varieties but always end up going for gunpowder. - not too smoky - not too bland - not too bitter -you can even drink it cold

I just go to the nearest chinese shop and buy the biggest cheapest bag. Sometimes it tastes good; sometimes not.... I dont like the caffeine so I make a cup, brew it for 20 seconds or so, chuck the water out and then add more water. Apparently 90% of the caffeine is then removed....

If you don't like the taste why do you drink it? Just wondering.

I only drink green, I actually like the taste and will drink it warm or cold. Other teas are ok if green is not available but I drink them all without milk/sugar.

I dont not like it, I think it's alright. Just trying to drink something a bit better than coffee, which I have an addiction to and want to stop.

Which brand do you drink? Drink Green without milk/sugar too.. however my coffee would have both.

My favorite is rooibos by far. I find green tea bearable with 2 sugars but I don't know if that defeats the point of it?

Jasmine Green Tea for me, either hot (never use water hotter than 70C as this damages the tea) or chilled!

Ohh yes. My fav too. Are you using the leaves/rolled pearls (balls)? how long do you let yours infuse :)

Also where do you get yours from?

Same here, I love rooibos (with honey + lemon, or the chamomile mix), but find green tea to be unpalatable. I wouldn't mind finding a way to enjoy it more though

i didn't know caffeine was physically addictive.
i thought it was merely mental addiction due to tolerance. interesting.

op, you are aware that green tea is from the camellia sinensis plant - the same plant we get all other teas from?

Interesting :) didn't have a translator with me when I went to china and HK, and didn't go to the touristy tea things, so I didn't get the part where it has to be off the boil for a few seconds :) will try it out. Also got some great jasmine green tea balls!

No red tea is not rooi bos ( rooi bos is a weed that grows mainly in the cape AFIK ) . Red tea looks like black tea to tell the truth i could not tell the difference it just tasted better thats why i bought it .

Not a scam, but definitely over-hyped :D
Green tea is high in fluoride (130-160 ppm). In drinking water, the maximum safe level of fluoride is considered to be 2-4 ppm. Fluoride can cause dental fluorosis (mottling of the teeth) and is implicated in a wide range of other disorders.

This has to be why such a lot of people in Taiwan has bad teeth, seen them drink 9-12 cups of tea a day.
