You guys using this? Heard them advertising on Jacaranda on my way home and when it said you can use your existing cell number and mobile network account I was intrigued. Installed the app now when I got home to test it and true as bob, it works. About R0.59 per minute.

How does this work? How do they get to show your cell number on other peoples phone when you use the app? Is that even allowed legally by ICASA etc?

I know originating network can spoof caller id

Interesting service. Tried it but here is some problems.

Using the USSD option. They charge 25c on your greydot airtime to check the balance vis ussd.

They charge 25c to request a ussd callback to link the calls.

There are a few seconds that are getting leaked and charged for. So while you get the callback and answer it you get charged from the time you answer it then it says wait to be connected then it starts ringing at the other side so that means you are being charged for that even if it just rings and the other person does not answer.

So now comes the good stuff.

Setting it up to be VOIP is where it saves you a ton of money. Not only does it spoof your number you get charged only for the call out and not the VOIP part so calls are 29c per minute.

So this works perfect if you are setting up the SIP on a router or call from android over the internet using siphone or something like that.

They also give you a free number for inbound calls. Very nice.
