gridhost any good?

Hosting 2 domains with them at the moment and their service is very good.

Quick replies to support tickets and issues are resolved very fast with very little downtime.
Been with them for more than a year and had very little downtime during this time.

I will definitely recommend them to anyone.

We have the Standard Linux Hosting package which allows for 10 domain to be hosted on a single account which I find very handy.

Look at my sig. Not local but great, awesome customer service.
If you want a simple, cheap reliable host I really recommend them. Whenever I've had a problem(caused by myself screwing around with Apache settings I should rather leave alone) Nick sorted out ASAP.

For domain reg, go straight to the source...http://www.co.za only R50 per year and you have full control of admin contacts, finance contacts, tech contacts etc. I've seen too many cases where a hosting company registers on your behalf, but technically they own the domain themselves. Not only do you get seriously overcharged, but it can be a legal nightmare if ever you want to switch hosting companies or registrars.

For hosting go to hostgator... unlimited domains, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited disc space, 24/7 live backup and support, cpanel, fantasico delux, loads more.... about R50 per month.

No I wouldn't suggest Hostgator. When **** hits the fan you'll struggle to get meaningful support. They also oversell their services. Those unlimited options only spell bad news imo.

For the most part that's true, but HG have been awesome to me so far with support techs regularly going beyond the call of duty. I've got 3 accounts running with them. If your sites are going to be more resource intensive, get the reseller package - not much more expensive and a lot more managed.

Gridhost problems

hi guys, just stumbled on gridhost. I wanna do some basic hosting and domain registration. how they?

Gridhost has a problem with mac software, problem lies in outgoing mail server conflict. Very temperamental, sometimes you can send email other times you can't..... up until now there has been no solution

Gridhost ROCKS! I currently have a 10 gig disc space with unlimited bandwidth package with them. They upgraded my disc space to a 15gig one day just because they felt 'generous'.

Wondering how much this is costing me? R64 a month! I'm not joking. It was a special they were running for the new year and they always have awesome specials on a regular basis.

Have a couple website hosted with them - no problems so far! *Touches wood* :p

Sorry to necro this thread but looking to change as Axxess hosting is causing me headaches...
Hetzner unfortunately do not have a product in my price bracket that works for me and I wouldn't use AfriHost even if they provided services for free :-)

So looking at another hosting company that will host 6 domain + allow multiple email addresses per domain (This is what Hetzner is unable to provide -they only allow 1 email per subdomain) + need IP block to work (which is not working on Axxess hosts)

Anyone using Gridhost able to confirm if they are good?

Gridhost is currently owned by Web Africa and you will be dealing with them most of the time. I haven't used Gridhost in a long time but a couple of years ago they were good.

Well, the fact that they still in business after five years probably tells you that they not fly-by-nights. Some painful reading on HP but that is not surprising as people hardly go there to praise good service.

EliteHost is a very good choice, here - you can use either the Personal Unlimited Pro plan (at R140/month), or the Business Pro plan (at R319.95/month, with 4x more server resources). Both of these support up to 7 domains.

If you're looking to host more than 7 domains, I recommend registering for local reseller hosting with them, or get a local VPS.

Not sure what you mean by "need IP block to work"? You mean blocking IPs from accessing your site? If so, a simple htacess file would sort that out easily.

:)
