GrootBaas' Solar

Whic
I came in below R110k, so spot on. Could've saved another R5k on the panels, but decided to purchase them through the same supplier I got the inverter&battery from and who is close to me, instead of having it shipped across provinces.
Which supplier did you go with?

Correct. Went with Fuesse Solar. They did a friend's installation and he is quite happy.

They also had availability which was important to me and even coming in on the public holiday. Some of the guys have more than a month waiting period.

Their labour was not too expensive and they are picking up the panels for me from the supplier and only charging a delivery fee to bring it here. They were accommodating to the fact that I did my own shopping and they are just doing the install.

And since they recommended the inverter/battery combo I know they are clued up with that specific combo.

But let's see. Anything can happen. My brother had a horror install from the company he used, so I am preparing myself for at least something to go wrong.
Good luck, hopefully everything goes smoothly. Don't have any firsthand experience with Fuesse, but they are very active on the local Facebook pages and I haven't seen anything negative about them yet.

Are they handling the CoCT registration for you as well? The required engineering sign off is pretty pricey.

Yep, included in their quote.

Just came across this. Good deal.

Will I be crazy to install my oven and geyser both as essential?

On my db box there is an automatic switch that switches off the geyser when the oven is on.

I've got everything on essential. No reason not to if you have some form of smart switch to turn off the geyser during LS. I figure oven will always be manual, and you decide whether you want to use it during LS

Will I need to install something like a sonoff loadshedding detector system on a part of the system that is completely off the inverter, or is there a way the inverter can let me know when it is loadshedding and thus the geyser can be switched off?

I use Home Assistant, so that automation is trivial. In the absence of HA, you'd need something like the sonoff loadshedding kit. And then a CBI Astute (or equivalent) on the geyser. Keep in mind that, ideally, you don't want to turn the geyser off during daytime LS as that removes the ability to heat the water using PV.

Started reading up on HA last week...very keen. Just not sure how easy it is to get to grips with? I am a technical person in the circles I move in, but complete novice compared to this forum's members.

It's actually pretty easy if you know your way around a computer. Pretty much everything is UI based now, so you don't ever have to get into the yaml coding if you don't want to. And there's really great support on both this and the HA forum

And how did it go? Where is our PHOTOS!
Are they coming tomorrow to finish the install?

Not bad at all.

Powerforumstore is also running a Kragdag special on a complete Solis S6 solution, excuse the poor photo of the pamphlet (it got sandwiched between all my other goodies in the bag):

All went well I think! Team of 4 guys were here around 11:00 and they finished around 15:00.

Everything is done except for the panels. They did the brackets and rails as well, so should be hopefully a quick one to finish up on Friday.

My garage is quite neglected, so this is a nice upgrade to it!

Edit: That db board you see in the picture is a secondary one for the outside buildings. The main db is right behind this wall in the kitchen.

Will take pics of the roof tomorrow.

Glad to see it came with a solarman dongle.

Did they connect the ct?

Heres a post on how not to connect the CT coil.

The ct should be connected on the incoming live eksdom wire. (Experts pse correct if I'm wrong I'm not a expert)

Pse. Take a snap of how the ct is connected if you can.

I did ask the guy about the CT coil and he explained in so much detail that I couldn't quite follow to be honest. Will have a look at that video as soon as I can - been waiting a while now for my request to join that Sunsynk group.

In the meanwhile, is the difference between grid and consumption basically the inverter loss?

Pretty much

Congratulations and welcome to free energy

That will be Friday after the panels go up.

But loadshedding hit few minutes ago, had to check the app to confirm if that's in fact the case.

And everything running as normal

It only get better (more involved)
