Job Description:
Specialist chemicals company domiciled in South Africa, is looking to employ a Group IT Technical Manager to work in Woodmead.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Maintains effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.
• Provide IT technical and IT services management to support other group entities.
• Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
• Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
• Manage security across all aspect of the business user base.
• Management of and monitoring of IT governance controls.
• Assessing quotes for IT purchases and maintaining control over payment of invoices.
• Identify opportunities for enhanced and improved usage of current systems.
• Identify opportunities for Business units to utilize new technologies.
• Resource planning using outsourced services providers, other functional support and limited business resources.
• Liaise and negotiate with IT suppliers and external customers. Liaison also extends to handling customer complaints regarding system availability and network issues.
• Manage infrastructure and support costs.
• Reporting to the Group IT Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
• IT degree or practical IT support experience in a similar environment for at least 8 years and more than 6 years relevant experience.
• Technical qualification in Cisco and Riverbed infrastructure applications.
• Proven competencies of systems and business procedures.
• Broad knowledge of business needs relating to IT requirements.
• Capable of demonstrating a specialist knowledge in the use of IT supported Systems workgroup systems.
