Groupon deal - not !

I see Groupon is offering 15% discount on iPad Air; it's a pity their purported retail prices bear no resemblance to the actual number !

Groupon :

Apple iPad Air 16GB (Space Grey), valued at R10 999, discounted to R9 299
Apple iPad Air 32GB (Space Grey), valued at R12 399, discounted to R10 199
Apple iPad Air 64GB (Space Grey), valued at R13 999, discounted to R11 299

Everybody else :

16GB Wifi + Cellular - R7 799.00
32GB Wifi + Cellular - R8 999.00
64GB Wifi + Cellular - R9 999.00
128GB Wifi + Cellular - R11 499.00

What I don't understand though in this case, is how they expect to get away with it.. iPads are such common products that you don't even have to google some obscure online store to find the best pricing, they're literally the same price at hundreds of retailers who use big, bold advertising.

Will people really feel that rushed and not bother to check their local "official" iStore? Or has it not been launched officially yet locally?

I love Groupon for the wellness and food deals. Everything else is just a rip off.

Picked up a few massages for R110 to the value of R400 and some meals for 2 at awesome places for under R150.

I could not agree more, have a look at hellopeter and other consumer sites and you will run away. My personal experience, misrepresentation of what the sell, fraudulently claiming they have refunded the product after they have taken it back, 1 year later and I have no product or money, thieves

I saw this today and I laughed so hard! They're usually not this bad..

Absolutely true.
You can get great deals on Groupon. You just have to know the actual retail value (not their advertised values).
 
Don't forget that it is actually other companies that use groupon as a selling tool. Meaning those people listed the pricing, and groupon displayed it.

From what I know, GO still makes a hefty cut of the selling price, so maybe that is the reason for the higher prices. Does not mean people will buy them...
