Grrr another bloody 2TB hdd gone !!

My cat bumped the media player off the table - all my stuff 2TB gone.
Surely there is a way to fix this bloody thing without spending a fortune?

Solution 1: Place media player in a safer place/position.
Solution 2: Re-locate the cat!

Is it clicking? If so, you may have a problem. If not, the data might still be recoverable. Only problem is then the hard drive needs to be detected by the computer. Google may help you through the options.

It happens to all of us once and a while... Embrace your dead hard drive, think of all the cool things you could've done with that 2TB of data, then move on.

Seems to happen to me too often. I cannot believe in this day and age, we still have these bloody devices that are so fragile. A bump or a drop and you lose everything. And not, SSD are not the way to go when you have 2TB of data.

I think marine meant Spinrite, which is data recovery software. South_bit is a data recovery guru. He could give them both a try.

The trick is, when you need a 2TB hard drive you buy two, not one, then back up.

Rule 1) keep drives in safe area! I've taken my drive out of my media player, now jut have 6x2Tb drives in my microserver hidden under a table with a u shape bracket! Have 1 drive as parity, so I can have 1 failure. Which reminds me I need to add labels to my drives!

Still have space for another 2 X 2TB drives, because I use a 2 bay external with port multiplier, and then still have 1 other on board esata. When I do get more drives it will be 3 or 4TB drives, so I can start getting larger capacity! Problem at the moment is price, because I would have to buy two at once, to upgrade parity and then a drive! Will do it by the end of the year, might buy 1 at a time to minimize bad batches
