I'm thinking of getting one of these for the office to make cell calls instead of telscum.
The peeps that sell these say that the calls costs 70c per min to any network. (as payphone u charge customers 90c)

How do these work with recharge etc..

Has anyone used this at home or office.
Is there any other alternative to save on cell calls apart from LCR?

Also are these units locked to a network or could I pop another sim in?

What is your average monthly bill, and does your company have an existing PBX, and if so, how old is it, and does it support VoIP?

The reason I ask, is because you might want to consider going for a VoIP solution, but it's only cost effective to invest in the equipment if you're pushing more than a certain number of minutes. Depending how much you use, you could recoup your investment in 1-2 years. If you're pushing medium/low number of cell calls, then LCR is a better option, as the equipment is much cheaper. And yes, you can put in another sim card, it is illegal for them to lock any GSM device to a particular network.

But be sure that you don't sign a contract (see my Telemasters blog posts for a very good reason). Go month to month. You can sign a Cell C month to month contract, and pay 99c a minute. I think Neotel are even cheaper, but they rely on their CDMA network, which might not cover you, or cover you well.

Google/Phone around, contact a few telecommunication/VoIP/LCR providers. See what is available. If I'm not mistaken, Telkom also have a few decent business packages, called Supreme Call, which gives you better rates if you commit to a certain number of minutes per month.

If you go with LCR, you can do it yourself if you know how. Or pay once off for the GSM devices, and pop your own SIM card in which you can manage on your own.

I have 2 small offices in dbn and pmb
I don't have a pabx but a simple 2 line phone with hunting facilities that works well.
Both have supremecall 1000 at the moment.
Just wanted to find a way of reducing the cost of the cell calls as supremecall charges 1.36 per min I think.
Also want to link the 2 with skype or some simple VoIP
