GSSC defends Gauteng Online

This project has been a bawls up since inception. It's tragic, given the huge impact accessible ICT can make in the lives of children.

"Announced in 2001, the project was initially allocated R500 million over the course of three years to build the computer network."

Quite a difference when compared to R2 million or is it 20 million or whatever the latest bribe was.

The facts are:

 The project was supposed to take 3 years and started in 2001. It is therefore already 5 years late.

 Someone did not deliver and more money had to be thrown at this project.

 PC's with no content for learning serves no purpose.

 Government still employs the largest collection of incompetent people!

Sangoni states that reports on the online school project are attempts to ’distort and question the efficacy of the Gauteng online school project’.
Bulldust!!!!
Since 2001 this project has never taken off - in fact several schools have threatened to take the Dept of Education to court on this issue - which is why it was dumped on GSSC.
If we could get the Schools Principals to write on this issue - you will hear their own true horror stories.
