GT5: The Countdown Begins!

Reviews so far for this game in a nutshell:

It's a great racer, but not the racer that warranted 5 years of hype calling it the game that will define racing. Sim fanatics over the world ain't gonna sell their PC to play a sim on the PS3.

Forza 3 was developed in 2 years and was received very well, more or less the same as what GT5 is now. But lets not go and compare the two. I'm just putting it out there.

PS. Please except that not everyone is creaming their pants over the game YOU are creaming your pants over.

fanboys.

I am neutral on this one. Will buy GT5 as soon as the budget allows so for ur information there are not so much "creaming in the pants" by the Pro GT fans as much as "shiiting crap" in the pants by those forza fans opposing GT5. I am sure its only because they are stuck with Halo and Forza, not much more.

As for defining GT5 as an true racing simulator, please advise us which alternate racing games are as good and accurate as GT5.

If any of you are in KZN, Kay Makan has the leather GT seat + Logitec GT all connected going for R3300. Looks flippin awesome.

I remember Kay Makan from growing up in pmb... R3300 is way out my limited budget. Especially as a add-on for just 1 game for me.
Thanks for the info though.

I've been hooked on GT since #2. I bought the PS2 mainly only to play the GT series, and sold it once I was bored. Now I've gotten a PS3 and picked up GT5 today; although the PS3 might stick around a lot longer this time because of the Multi Media functions. :)

Probably will. For me its:
80% Multimedia
20% Gaming

Same here... I'm not afraid to admit I suck quite badly at games, so it's not exactly relaxing when I play... lol...

I'm pretty much the same :)
Don't see the point in 'playing' games that simply ended up frustrating me. Something like GTA where I can mess around while doing nothing in particular for an hour or two - now that's stress relief imo.

So gt5 finally came out and this thread died?

For me GT5 died, when Forza 3 was released.
Now if only I can find a steering wheel solution for the Xbox that's as good as the Logitech G25 (or 27) for the PS3 and PC, I'll be happy as a pig in ****.

I've had GT5 since December. When I got it, I put it in the console, raced 2 arcade tracks. Switched it off, bought God Of War for the Ps and continued with Forza, Fifa and Black ops on the xbox while the PS was reserved for GOW only. In other words, GT5 sat in the DVD rack since december gathering dust.

Then this past Saturday I came across (with the help of a friend) a Driving Force GT for R499.00 (What a bargain - although second hand, still damn decent and almost new). Got home, setup the Driving Force and popped in GT5.

Needless to say, Saturday through to Sunday found me enjoying a new dimension to the game. I haven't touched the xbox since the Driving Force got home, and from this experience over the weekend, it will possibly be a while before I pickup the xbox controller again.
LOL

Well now you got the right tool for the job.

My PS3 died on me about a month back with my GT5 disc stuck inside.

So I bought a new PS3 slim 160GB, swopped the HDD. PS3 formatted my HDD and I lost everything. Damn I was on level 24

Anyway I opened up the old PS3 and BR drive and took out my GT5 disc. I had to start from scratch but at level 23 now. :D

Didn't you at least backup and synchronize your trophies? Remember the same rule that applies to PC's also applies to PS3's. Sorry to hear that dude.
