Why has everyone been so quite about the GTX 670 which should be officially out on Thursday.

Looks to be hitting the spot with regards to price and performance... Amd are starting to look like the're in trouble again :(

Same with the GTX 680 4GB where is it? It seem's to be a bit of a phantom card(Very rare).

Would be interesting to see the difference between the 680 2gb, 4GB seeing as the price difference is minimal (according to int sites).

The 4GB version of the GTX680 would most likely only have a performance difference on 2560x1600 on ultra settings. It would indeed be interesting to see benchmarks.

I think not now but you plan on keeping the card for 3 years it would show some benefit.

Never say it's not needed. Things develop so fast I see no reason not to get the 4GB if pricing is right

Thats a tough call though! Maybe if the mem bandwidth was faster, I would agree...

Ag, at least it comes with bragging rights :p.

Benches are out, looking very good so far. So if yields (and hence supply of the chips) could improve, they'd be in a very dominating position

You should be ashamed of yourself charging so much over the RRP just because it;s new.

Anything for an extra buck hey?

I agree. Its way overpriced. In the US they are selling those for $399. Even if they add import costs its not going to be R2000 extra.

/facepalm

Here we go again with people that dont understand at all how much government rips a hole in everyones backsides with import duties, but insist on comparing prices to the USA.

Maybe he meant 7970?
The OC 670's are slower than 680.
Stock: 680 vs 670
Stream Processors: 1536 vs 1344
Texture Units: 128 vs 112
ROPs: 32 vs 32
Core Clock: 1006MHz vs 915MHz

So the OC 670 would have to have a big clock boost to beat the 680.

No, you are not taking boost clock into account. The 670 OCs have much higher boost clocks than 680s, check the reviews.

Asus DCII GTX670 equals a ref GTX680 in BF3. Overclock the GTX670 you see a 10% improvement over the GTX680. For $80 (15%) less, that is a clear victory.

I think you'll have to define the term 'creams'. An OC'd 670 is just about equal to a stock 680.

I am referring specifically to the Gigabyte GTX670 OC Edition card.

Unlike other GTX670 cards that have a peak power of 225w the Gigabyte card has a 6 as well as 8 pin power connector that allows for 300w. This means with some overclocking it will beat a standard GTX680.

I say cream because compared to the standard Gigabyte GTX680 card the price/performance of the GTX670 is certainly much better.
It is faster (when overclocked) and cheaper but still offers the same 3 year warranty.
Best thing of all...it is actually available whereas GTX680 is rather hard to find at the moment.
