Landmark prices seem accurate (around 7 grand) that other place seems very over priced...

hmmm, i understand you, but surely you need a chip with an area that 150mm2-200mm2 or bigger(I'm not sure on the exact diminsions, but it's somewhere there) to just use a 256mb, because there's only so many pins you can put on, (this is why they could put 512bit bus on the 2900XT and gtx280 because those chips were massive!)

No not really, btw HD2900 used a padded pin process so the pin-out was was about the same as it would have been for 256-bit bus, cause it used a layered design to achieve 512-bit.

4600 series had no problem of size as far as I know, its cost. 256-bit costs more than 128-bit PCB and at the price point 4600 was supposed to come in, it made no sense to go with 256-bit.

As for 295 pricing, I'd never spend more than R6,500 on a $499 VGA card
Actually I'd never spend more than R2K on a VGA period...
