So... fairly new then. Does it require a field or just a court? Or maybe open-range?

alanf85: the winner of the competition was fairly decided by the question poser, who happens to be a highly respected lawyer. Who I am to quibble with his decision? :)

Dancing? no.

More clues:
  • It is timed
  • Some specific equipment is needed. No special clothing required, though at least some clothing is required.
  • World Champs every two years, including this year

It does involve a board. It does not involve any pretense or fantasy.

Bonus: The board has 225 squares.
