Guide to using MyBB - mainly Private Messages related

A few things I cannot figure out, or have yet to find out

How to send private messages to other members?
Is there a "incoming" and a "sent mail" folder?
If not, can pms be monitored?

Is there a guide to using this version of forum software available?

Send a pm, click their username & start convo.

The forum software is quite different from what it was. Three people I sent PMs (conversations) to claim to have not received them. All were answers to For Sale ads, so I thought that I was doing something incorrectly.

All 3 people had logged on after the conversation was sent, but were not notified of a new message
 
You probably did a Profile post. A feature I don't see a use for. Profile posts are public. Start Conversation is private. It is not very clear. I have seen some awkward profile posts from new members for messages that was obviously meant to be private.
 
With the new software you can no longer send pm's and have to start conversations instead. Better imo as conversations can have more than one participant, gets grouped together and functions like standard threads. If someone didn't receive a notification they've got those turned off.

The "Conversations" feature is awesome, I really use it to great effect, especially the fact that you can communicate in a group.

True, group communications were possible with PMs too where you could place each username name with a separator to send to more than one user.

Maybe I will see some of you at this year's MyBB conference. Only attended once but it was incredibly interesting
 
Finding anything about how the new sw platform works is mission. Even an explanation about how PMs (conversations) work. I found and find it hugely irritating that one has plod and fiddle around to find out how things work on the new platform, so I sympathise with you. Nothing was done by myBB to help the process along and "sell" this new platform to us by highlighting the so-called "improvements" the new platform offered. But then, this the norm these days, no one reads manuals and no one wants to put the effort into producing them either.

The "help" section is an absolute joke.
