Heres the thing i started my own Guild (Thralls Elite Guard Unit on EU realm Twigth Ligth Hamer) about a month ago its a lvling guild that i want to make a Raiding guild but i got one problem as soon as someone dinges lvl 70 they leave my guild :( ?

I think my lvl 70s are being stolen by another guild.
Only lvl 70s that leave other people very happy with guild.
Maybe they leave cause i am still lvl 66 but that because i boost low lvl people and help them with gold to start out with alot of the members are new on TH and dont have mains so i give them gold to start out with a little goes along way on low lvls.

O yeah i am still noob GM so what do you guys do to keep your high lvl guys?

Feel like i am a lvling service people use me then leave the guild :(

Only the few founders that dinged lvl 70 that stays.

If its loyalty you want then get a dog!..sad but true m8.

I know you asked so nice, I'm not a GM but here is my take

Once you hit 70 you don't want to be bothered by low lvl guys asking for quest help and boosts. You need all the time you have to gear up for PvP - Honor grinding. You need to run Heroics for Gear, you need to run Raids for even better Gear. Just my 2c

The problem with big guilds are that there is to many people needing different things. Best is to start a lvl 70 only guild with s et aim. Then invite people with the same aim. be it getting Kara on farm and progressing or making pre mades for BG's and PvP arenas. Every person has their own taste at lvl 70 ;)

they using you to get the free gold and easy lvling. Easy as that. Who would wait for a guild to get members up to lvl 70 and then have to wait for them to learn how to raid when they can just join a ready to raid guild?

well where they going to? which other guilds?

have you explained to the members what your guild aim is?

are you just a leveling guild or a Alt guild? have these people played wow before? Ask questions!! make sure they not using u so they can there friends guild and raid there heart out!

As a newbie joining a guild regardless of what level i am and how many people are in the guild... If i see my guild doing Raids or pre-mades then ill defo stay and work it out and try get into a raiding spot.. Basically u need to make your guild attractive to people. Not just a help/spam/chat guild.

finally im not hitting out at the name of your guild but... the name needs to sound attractive aswell ;) but thats my opinion so dont take it the wrong way!!:D

For starters you need to be 70.
You cannot be GM of a guild that's making progress if you cannot run alongside your players.

70's will leave because when you're 70 you're no longer focused on leveling, you're now focused on gearing up and grinding.
Unless your 70 players have something to keep them busy they will get very bored and if they remain in your guild they will have no reason to play wow.

The other problem is players who think every 70 has the time and inclination to run them through instances.
There are few things that annoy a 70 more then being hounded for help when players should be running those instances on their own steam.

/disbandguild get yourself to 70 and make another guild with 70's only. In my guild the only toons who are low lvl are alts.

Maybe they leave cause i am still lvl 66 but that because i boost low lvl .

didnt notice that comment(flash reading FTW), Do you self a favour get to lvl 70, they see you as the leader and organiser for the guild, If most of them are level 70 and waiting for you to get to 70 before they can do any end game instances then im affraid i have to agree with them in leaving the guild and seeking a more organised guild.

forget helping the low levels and get yourself to lvl 70 asap, organise raids or PVP's depending on what the guild/officers/members wants, Remember you cant raid all the time and during the breaks help your lowbies level and stuff!!

Well if it wasnt for the few cool people in my guild i would disband and go solo.

Just remember your guild does not have to be the biggest all you need is 20 - 40 dedicated members that are focused on raiding/instances etc. And dont just let anyone into your guild, know what your guild needs, mostly tanks and healers then go from there.

Also I dont ask for help when lvling, the noobs will never learn their toons if they always get help from senior member, let them suffer, let them wipe, thats how they learn.

yeah but you need to decide where the guilds going, also bare in mind that there are going to be loads and loads of 10 man raids with the new expansion

I heard somewhere down the line that there are going to be more 10 man raids than 25 mans, Ofc this will only be the begining of WOTLK.

So if you have 15 good players youll be ok...

1. Have a purpose for the Guild once people hit 70
* If it's just to chill and mess around, then only your close buddies will stay.

2. Ensure your lvl 70s have something to do [even if you're not 70]
* Set up Guild Instance runs [heroic/normal] [This includes literally scheduling this, once you get the 5-mans right, then you can start 10-mans, then 25-mans etc. This alones makes the guildies "gel", they get used to the Tank, the healer etc etc..and that makes them stay]
* Set up 10-mans [or at least work towards Kara] (Get attuned, figure out what gear requirements are and let the Guild work towards this)
* Set up class/role officers to help 70s to gear up properly and determine "readyness" for high level content.

3. Ensure your Guild has the right class combinations
* If your guild is just a bunch of lock and hunters [dpsers] then 70s will leave as
they will be forced to "pug" every single instance
* Work out what you need for every 5-10 people (healer/tank/dps) and recruit appropriately

I'd say initially just work towards doing Karazhan as a Guild [10-20 members] . This obviously means being able to have 2 active 5-man teams doing regular instance runs without having to pug people. Later on you can consider combining forces with another guild for the larger 25-man runs once your members start getting bored of 10-man content etc etc.

The reasons i've read/seen why people chose to leave a guild [while being lvl 70], it's almost always related to :
a. The guild has no direction, everyone is just doing their own thing. No guild-specific stuff happening
b. The guild is either not progressing at all , or progressing too slow with high level content. [i.e. unable to run heroics/10-mans as a guild , never having a tank/healer to do runs with , no one focusing properly on >completing< content resulting in constant failures and frustration etc ].

c. The guild is inactive or less active than the leaving member [GM/Officers only playing on weekends etc] or disagreement between members.
and to an extend with larger guilds:
d. The guild had too many of [class] resulting in too many rotations and never getting chance to do content.

If you want to keep the level 70's you need to help them too in doing their quests etc. If you cant provide them with the content they also require then they will have to look elsewhere for that support. It is most likely not an attack on you or your ways of leading but rather they want a prospect of doing things now not in 2 months.

You can go a long way towards getting solid gear doing by just the 10man raids/pvp.

Look at what you need to set up a 10man raid (2 tanks, 3 heals, 5 dps/cc) and build a small, focused guild that will work towards the objective of farming KZ. With the new badge rewards coming in, small 10man raiding guilds are going to be the new fotm.
One you're farming KZ for badges and playing around in ZA, you can always start looking at recruiting more people.

Something I've realised, if you're too much of a carebear people will take advantage of you. Our guild has a strict 70's only policy, has a strict 'minimum requirements' policy for raiding that members are expected to reach on their own, etc. If they don't like it theyre wecome to gquit and go someplace else, but I have no doubts that the reason we're 'hard' on our members is also the reason we zoned into Gruul's Lair last night for the first time and downed HKM and Gruul on our first night of attempts (with help from another guild though, we don't quite have the numbers for 25man raiding yet)

If your goal, on the other hand, is to have a casual guild for levelling and stuff, lots of gquits are going to become part of the territory. No 70 wants to be stuck running vanilla instances or fooling around instead of raiding/doing heroics.

So yeah, basically you have to evaluate your goal with your guild, then work towards attaining that goal. You always need to be moving forward (even if slowly) or people get bored.

My advice to you...You have missed the BC boat, the next patch is the last before the expansion and you are not even 70 yet, Re-desighn your guild, tell people you are a guild thats leveling up and building for WOTLK, make that your selling point, if you can get enough players in and at lvl 70 when WOTLK comes out you guys will level up together and you wont have the problem of ppl dropping you for other guilds.

Remember it takes a certain kind of person to lead succesfful raids and manage a guild, if you cant do those then dont waste your time.

Well not bad idea i started the guild to help others if someone is camped we all help or if they really need a boost cant find good pug.
The next expansoin can still take a long time to come out blizzard is one company that does not realese something till they sure its ready.

damn right!

altough you do need good officers too :D

Well for your infromatoin theres still loyal people around i have a few in the guild but i was revering to the masses.

Youll be suprised as to whos loyal whos not some of the random guys that joined me did more for my guild than some of my close friends.

Well i dont spam channels to recruit people that how you get people that just want boosts all the time most are hand picked people i puged with.

Even picked up a few llow lvls with my alts gave them gold to help them get started.
And alot of those guys still in my guild one even out leveled my main in a months time.
