Guild Wars, questions...

Their armor level is very low when using the healing signet. So the best option is to try to cause maximum damage at that point. Usually easy to cause a lot more damage than the signet heals. You can try to prevent the signet usage using ele or mesmer skills, but I think it is better to just beat a warrior character to a pulp while he is using the signet.

People playing warriors should also take that into account. I get real pissed when I am playing a monk and there is a warrior that keeps on using his healing signet when his health is still fairly high (and while being beaten on by a lot of enemies while tanking) and then blames me when he dies practically instantly.

our issue is the 2.5k quest by Lions Arch were three mobs of Ettin plus the Boss and his mob have to be taken care of... our party was a bit disorganized last weekend, so we are kinda planning this one more carefuly now. ;)

we only have the ne/me to cast one spell at one target, so our problem is to survive the other Ettin hammering the party...

Well i removed the healing signet from my warrior when i was still in pre-seering. Found it stupid and like mentioned it reduces your armour and makes you a target to get beaten up quickly.

I did that 2.5K quest yesterday with a party of pure level 20's (OK, the one ele was level 19 and the leader did not want to take him, but the rest of us said to give him a chance). It is an elite quest in my opinion and I think Arenanet made a mistake to put it there. The boss is level 24 and pretty hard to kill. We had three ele's in the party and it took some serious nuking to take the boss down. And we started out from Bergen Hot Springs, rather than Lion's Arch. I would recommend disabling that quest for now, so that you can still move around safely in the Lion's Arch area.

woot!

thanks for the info... that quest does have somenice exp but lvl 28 boss... eina... so is there a chance to grab an elite skill from that boss or not?

There are two of these quests, one for each faction. The other one is obtained from Bergen Hot Springs and seemed a lot easier. Well, our team rolled through the other boss as if he did not exist, so I did not have time to catch all the details. Not even sure if it is worth the same amount of XP. The ettin boss is a warrior, so probably have some warrior elite skill. The other boss for the second quest is a necro, I think.

tks for the info... where do you start to get the skill signets? do you buy them or get them as drops?

There is a quest in Lion's Arch to get the first two. After that you have to buy them. And they get progressively more expensive up to 1K each.

Ettins are not your best friends. Yikes... give me the Charr anytime instead. :p

I loooove Chaos Storm... nothing like having a bunch of enemies ganging up on your poor healer and send them packing away with that spell! :D

Heh useless,

Talking about that 2.5K Ettin quest in Lions Arch....

I went into that mission with mid teen level players and finished it the first time.
The trick is not too take them all on @ the same time. Everyone stands far back and one person "lures" the Ettins out, normally 3 will run after him and after running away long enough 1 or 2 of that 3 will run back leaving only 1 or 2 Ettins too kill per battle, repeat process until you get to the big bad shiny Ettin. When you get to him, take out the other normal Ettins around him first, run away, heal, recharge then go in for the kill.

I've done that quest a few times now and everytime we didn't adhere to the above tactic we lost bad..

EDIT: I agree, so far the Ettins are my least favourite, i far prefer dropping the mergoyles.

thanks for the tip mccrack... we shall try it out on Sat morning's session... we hunger for that exp... :p

@Useless: Yes, I also used Chaos Storm a fair bit defensively, i.e. to make monsters run away. Just do not cast it on the monsters while the warriors are beating them up. The warriors get unhappen when their victims run away.

@mccrack: I agree that is the only way to do that quest. And if the party is not that high level, I agree it would be good to get an extra rest period in before taking the boss.

You know ascending gives 50K experience? If you want to level quickly, the best way is to do the missions until you get to the desert and to ascend. Just try to be at least level 16 when you get to the desert, or you will struggle to get into parties. Even if you are not level 16 then, the quickest way to level is to kill some monsters and do some quests in the desert.

i think Ignorance on the Ettin boss could help some damage to accumulate before his Heal Signet kicks in... it just always looks so good on paper but when the crunching time happens its all different... :p

Yes, Ignorance is a good way to block the use of signets. Seems you really have something against Ettins. :D

There is a skill you can capture from an Ele mob in the North Kryta Area called "Rust" (Ele skill). When cast at lvl 0 Water Magic it does the following:

For 6 seconds, target foe and adjacent foes takes 3 times longer to activate signets.

What this translates to is , -40 armor for 3 seconds :D

I have a Question .... I have neva captured a skill yet and just wondering can u capture a skill that is not ur profession? Im in Kryta aswell ... lv 17 :)

You can only capture skills that are for your primary or seconday profession. Elite skills (that have the gold border around them) can only be captured. Normal skills can be captured, purchased or obtained as quest rewards. Try to get as many as possible as quest rewards, since buying them or buying capture signets goes up in price pretty rapidly each time you do that (and use up skill points).

Yip, as gkm said. The first time you get a signet of capture is from Magi Malaquire in Lions Arch. Every time you buy a signet of capture its price doubles, starting at 100g to a max of 1000g. Thereafter its is 1k a pop. The same holds true for buying skills from a skill trader as well.

I never had problems running out of skill points. I have quickly checked my three characters and they have 37, 36 and 48 skill points available respectively. And I have made no specific attempt to save skill points.
