Guild Wars, questions...

yeah AFAIK IS has to reroute their connection to connect to SAIX which could explain the slow network...

but as far as I know ppl with their 56k has managed to play the game so I'm nto too certain why you having problems playing...

oh wait you with absa...

absa is know for their extreme slowness :D

Playing is no problem, runs very smooth
Its only after i choose my char the conecting.......screen comes up and nothing zikolo

yeah I've noted if your connection is not too stable you will get that... what it could possibly mean is your connection signal disconnect/dropped when you attempted to connect to the EU server after selecting your character, that would result in the hanging.

P.S I also get this with my iburst sometimes when the tower is down
 
have you tried to do a diagnostic on your connection to GW?
hhmmm...this almost sounds like it could even be a pc problem...
do you have the lightning bolt in the top right of your screen of your chars screen, before logging in with a char

Why not connect to the US servers, as if you do a traceroute, you will see that we first get routed through the US, then to EU, then back to US!
So why not go directly to the US? Makes the path much shorter! 9 hops as apposed to 18.

And ABSA isn't that bad, I'm also using ABSA dial-up, Guild Wars works perfectly! I did a lookup on the ABSA DNS server, which is IS, this is what I found!

So yes, it is IS!
I don't want to post all the info, it's quite a lot... atleast 2 or 3 pages, shows how long they keep the cache etc.!

Go check that site out if you like, click on the top link and then just put in your DNS server IP that is given to you in your connection when you dial up!

now, I was wondering if someone can answer this:

SAIX and IS Time To Live on the DNS servers are 1 day, yet our guild wars servers Time To Live is between 5 - 30 mins, depending on where you connect......Why?

Oh wait, we're in South Africa, nevermind, forget all that then!

So what's going on here, specialy registered to post that first post, lol!

you will see that there are 2 newer versions!

P.S. The PlayNC support sux, they kept asking me the same questions over and over! I've found that you're better off fixing the problem yourself! They just want you to jump through hoops!

Oh btw, if you are still having connection problems, try switching to the US, else if it still doesn't work, try getting this and populate it with these DNS servers, they're free:
4.2.2.1 = vnsc-pri.sys.gtei.net
4.2.2.2 = vnsc-bak.sys.gtei.net

Should save some time, maybe time is the problem?
