Guild Wars, questions...

The 15 September date is just when the pre-release bonus pack goes on sale. It still does not mean one can play nightfall yet. For that we still need to wait for the actual release.

Yep. Thought that's what we've been talking about? :)

Hi there all.
Just a quick question hope i am posting it in the right place.
I would like to do battle in pvp mode against friends of mine just for fun. I have done the random select but how can myself and a buddy get into our own little arena and fight mano amano. Yes i know it's a kind of mine is bigger than yours man thing but it has to be fun. So any ideas on how to do this.
Thanks ya'll

GW Nick Hybrid San send me whisper if u like just to meet more ppl

You do a scrimmage in the guild hall. The one person in the guild hall click "Guild Battle" on the party window and then select host scrimmage. The other person the also click "Guild Battle" and then select join scrimmage. Then the battle can begin. :D

Edit: We do regular scrimmages on our guild halls, both between individuals and between groups made up of us and our guild alliance partners.

BTW:
How did you guys find this special weekends of theirs that last couple of weeks?

I think this last past one was absolutely a joke! There were supposed to be more key drops than usual and better chest drops as well.

Well, in all I all got about 4 keys in total, all this in 15+ or so hours of gameplay this weekend.

This is nothing special IMO :(

The chests seemed to be dropping fewer golds, if anything. The previous weekend where they intorduced more people to the elite missions was a good thing I think.

howzit all. gkm thank for the invite i will definately take u up on it in the near future. Finally hit lvl 20 last night but now i'm kinda stuck. what's next. Still jolling around kaineng doing silly mission. Where are the quests i can't find them. More importantly i have to start farming my nuts off to pay for a guild hall. How much will that cost exactly? And where do i go to earn that sigil thingy instead of spending 13 000+ k to et it. This is a cool forum i like it here. Count me in a sbeing a regular, if ya'll will have me off-course.
btw i am from cape town where is everyone else from?
cheers

Yes, just send me a message if you want a stroll around our guild hall.

It is hard to say what you must do next without knowing exactly where you are. This page might help you:

Getting a sigil for the guild hall in Hall of Heroes is not easy. Buying one is probably your best (only) option for the moment.

I am also from Cape Town.

Hiya hybrid # 76
Gratz with reaching lvl20! You are |337 now :D

Progress-wise, it will depend on what you have as your primary quest. I think when you hit mainland (kaineng center, the marketplace, bukdek byway, wajjun bazaar) you will have A Master's Burden as your primary quest.
For this one you must go to Togo and go to a woman in Wajjun to tell her of Yijo's death.

After completing this one, you get Mayhem in the Market, whereby you go from npc to npc and eventually meet up with Togo in the Undercity.
Then you go to Vizunah Square.

From here it is pretty easy to follow the main story. Vizunah => Nahpui => Tahnnakai, etc.

You should only get 'lost' again at Battle in the Sewers or after Sunjiang District ;)

The Celestial sigil you get when winning Hall of Heroes (HoH). Like gkm suggested, it is probably easier buying one ;)

thanks lil death. that help stacks. i completed masters burden. now i need to fin toga again. I have been through the under-city doing various mission but have'nt seen any quest things yet. sure i will get there eventually though. So hoh is really that tough hyh? hmmmmmm. To farm or to buy internet gold. Tough one. Think me and the guild are going to have to do some serious monster bashing for this one. Dude when is it that i can get the elite skills. am i far off or can this be done now. Oh ja i have been to balthazars and all that if it makes a difference to my gameplay. Or is that only pvp stuff?.

PS . I am kind of a quote junkie and i think you it's always dark one is definately going into my favourites bank.

cheers

Sounds like you need to do "Mayhem in the Market" next. Talk to Headmaster Greico in Kaineng Docks to get the quest. Or have you already arrived at Vizunah Square?

Buying internet gold is pretty sad and you risk getting your game account suspended. You probably need to ask each guild member to contribute 2K or so for the hall. That way the burden is not too big on anybody. Except is you are super leet or something, you can basically forget about winning HoH until you are a lot more experienced.

For Mayhem in the Market the mission will start in the South West walking out of Marketplace into Wajjun, talking with Mai / Kai / Ling or whatever and then they send you to guys standing in the middle of Wajjun, after talking to about 4-5 npc's (actually henchies) they send you to meet Togo in The Undercity. then only Togo sends you to Vizunah.

Well, this is a guild battle, where you fight for favor for your territory (Europe has favor of the Gods, Korea has favor, etc.) and they are not easy to do. Just getting there might already be a tought one.

blasphemy!! ;)

You can start capping elite skills (with Capture Signet) in Bukdek Byway already, 2 Warrior elites, Assassin and Mesmer.

I wish i found this forum about a month ago. Would have saved me so much agro. Really good advice, great ppl, who needs the pub....ok wait scratch that,.... i need the pub!!!!! One thing i will bother you guys with later is how to thrash, thrash and otherwise annihilate a lvl 20 ele/warrior. This is a primal, unadulterated, sick thirst for revenge. This char is stronger than me but i sooooooo want to hurt him,,, baaaaaaadly, but we're still friends though. Do i have a chance?

He's probably a shock warrior hey...??
knockdowns, heavy dmg that ignores armor, etc. ;)

gotta love it man, that's also one of the best parts of the game IMHO: to work out counters for these guys
shut 'em down!! :D :D

Yes, if you know what class and approx what skills to expect, you can basically always work out a counter.

If your friend is still fairly new, he is nearly certaily a fire ele. So, you need to take things that resist fire damage. Fire spells are long casting, so you want to try to interrupt as many of them as possible. Also, make sure you have bought max AL armor at Kaineng Centre.

You guys are always posting. all the time. i luv it. is this like your job or just an obsession.lol. just playing. ok here's me.
ele/mesmer
Just go armour breaks down like this:
Battlemage 60 armour +10 against physical attacks all the way down. and pyro alice band/head peice.lol.

Have some crazy does everything gold staff that requires 10 fire magic with 20% chance to half casting and rechard of i think fire spells. also has + 10 energy i think. Is the better out there?

Enemy (grrrrrrrrrrrr)
ele/warrior
Not sure about his builds but in the fight he throws spells the rushes into melee and basically violates me and makes me cry in the corner in the foetal postion. (Forgive my spelling). There is only one thing i want more than a dual core processor and a brick of a graphics card and that to make him bow down and show some RESTECP. You feel me!!!! I want it so that he wont want to play guild wars for a month and move back to his mothers house and stay in bed and sulk. "Unless we going to the pub." So obi one's, how now.

Ps i have no elites yet and he proly has a bucket full.
oj ja i always see the letters AL after guys talk about armour what is it?

AL is Armor Level. If he has a lot of elites and you have none, then you probably need to be a bit worried. Maybe practice a bit on somebody else first.

You might have some luck with an air based build using gale as an interrupt:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/E/any_Air_Spiker

If you go fire, leave stuff like meteor shower, that can be eaily dodged, at home.

If its +20% (max chance) for cast and recharge, then thats a damn nice staff. Only way to better that kind of stat is to have a one handed wand with a 20% recharge and coupling it with 20/20 recharge and cast focus item. With a wand and focus combo, you could also end up scoring with energy or health bonuses. ie Energy +10 on each. Still, it all comes down to what your character needs... One persons treasure is another persons trash.

Righto all this info is going to keep me busy for a while. Thanks guys for all the help. Will keep on posting just to stay active. I take it for granted all ya'll have guilds or are at least part of one. How do i go about recruiting people, maily south africans , (ja i love my country and it's ppl but lests not go down the patriotic rode right now or i will never stop) to join the guild. I know it's proly premature to have one at this stage but i paid 300 bucks for the game and would love to experience all it has to offer. So how did you guys recruit.
